Frequently asked questions

What is DGO?

DGO is an unofficial community multiplayer project for PC. The plan is to explore an open world with other players, ride motorcycles together, find supplies, fight infected hordes, and compete with rival groups. A persistent world and large PvPvE events are long-term goals.

What does DGO stand for?

DGO is simply the name of the project. It should not be interpreted as the name of an official sequel, expansion, or online mode.

Is DGO playable right now?

Not yet. DGO is currently in early development and technical research. The first priority is proving that the original game can be safely inspected, extended, and synchronized between multiple players. There is no public build available at this time.

When will DGO release?

This is a difficult project involving reverse engineering, custom networking, server development, game synchronization, testing, and performance optimization. Major milestones will be announced when they have been successfully tested. We will not announce release dates based only on estimates.

Is DGO officially connected to the original game?

No. DGO is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by the original developer, publisher, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Valve, or Steam.

What kind of multiplayer experience is planned?

The long-term plans include:

These are development goals, not confirmed launch features. Initial tests will use much smaller groups.

Will I need to own the original game?

Yes. DGO will require a legitimate Steam installation of the original PC game. Every player is responsible for purchasing and installing the base game through an authorized platform.

DGO will not provide:

What does PvPvE mean?

You can face infected and other players in the same world. Your group might be fighting a horde when another crew arrives to help, take your supplies, claim the area, or start a fight.

Server owners may eventually choose rules for PvP, PvE, roleplay, hardcore survival, or their own community. These options are planned.

Will DGO have anti-cheat?

Anti-cheat and server-side validation are planned, but no anti-cheat system can guarantee that cheating will never happen. The preferred approach is to make the server authoritative instead of trusting every claim made by a player’s computer.

DGO will not install invasive anti-cheat software without clearly informing the community.

Will DGO be free?

Yes. DGO will be 100% free. You will still need to own the original game.

No final funding model has been announced. Do not pay for access, keys, test invitations, downloads, or staff positions. Anyone privately selling “early access” is not authorized. Rely on verified DGO channels for official announcements.

How can I become a tester?

Testing applications will be announced when builds are stable enough for outside testing. Testers may be selected based on:

Please do not repeatedly message developers or moderators asking for private access.
